The Pen and Paper
The Pen
The Anoto digital pen works exactly the same way as a ballpoint pen. Unlike a standard ballpoint pen, the digital pen is a technology device that converts handwritten information into digital data. Once the data is stored in the pen's built-in memory, the information can be easily transferred to a PC or other IT devices, via Bluetooth® or a docking the pen into a USB cradle
When writing with the digital pen, an integrated optical sensor takes snapshots of pen strokes and is able to take up to 70 optical reference points per second. It captures writing and registers the pen’s movements in relation to its position on the page, while a processor digitizes the words and images. The digital pen can store up to 40 pages of dense data between downloads.
The Paper
Using a unique software process, forms are printed onto ordinary paper or card stock and can be designed to look just like the forms you use today. They can accept handwriting, sketches, codes, control boxes, and signature capture.
A licensed background pattern consisting of a series of faint dots form a grid and act as map coordinates to pinpoint the location of each pen stroke on the paper. Each individual form is associated with a unique background pattern.
